A sassy little book about helping the environment by a 15 year old author!

Foreword by Richard Garriott (Explorer)

How To Fix The Planet

(When You’re a Teenager)

By Jen Zead

A simple guide to changing habits that can help fix the planet

A book with personality, a little sass and lots of common sense. A simple guide to changing habits that can help fix the planet.

When the environmental protesting is done and people head back home, do they make changes to their lives, that can help the environment, or are there habits that they don’t know how to break? Well, the answer is to read ‘How to fix the Planet (When you’re a Teenager)’.

This little treasure of a book, written by one of their number, tells you exactly what you can do. It will not change your life, because the hints are so straight forward and forehead slapping, but they will have a BIG impact on the environment. Jen Zead shows you, through weekly tasks and checklists, how small acts of consideration, have a big impact on the planet. From recycling, to thrift shopping, palm oil to microplastics, she educates and stimulates a new wave of consciousness. Through extensive research and fact checking from some eminent specialists, she has created this gift for us all.

The book is written in a simple and punchy way, without agenda, bias or mystification. It speaks of the author's extreme attempts to be completely green and how through failing, she found simple, less exhaustive solutions. She places no guilt, just straight forward talking and shows us all, that you don’t need to be wrinkly, to be wise.

Jen Zead

Jen Zead is 15 years old.  She has always cared about the environment and now, more than ever. While studying for school, stuck in COVID lockdown, she contemplates the plight of the planet.  Pre-COVID she protested in her local streets for people to pay attention to the terrible state of the planet, now in lockdown, she felt that she had no voice.  She takes time to read and research about what she can do at home to make a difference.  The information sometimes doesn’t seem correct or just not within her abilities to change.  There is only so much she can do, but then again, if all her generation did it, that would make a change!

Her generation may be last letter of the alphabet, but they are also the beginning of the next way of living, for we of the present are ALL accountable for the future.

Not only aimed at teenagers (and the next adult generation) but I believe should be read by all age groups given the fundamental importance of changing our habits immediately to help our planet.

I ordered this book online and read it on my phone but also ordered the paperback so that I can leave it on the coffee table hoping my teenagers or their friends will pick it up and have a look. It’s just what we all need - good info, practical tips in a digestible format aimed at teenagers (and the next adult generation) but I believe should be read by all age groups given the fundamental importance of changing our habits immediately to help our planet.
